Based on designs that have been in longstanding military use, the PIONEER line of portable, diesel-fired space heaters are meant for use in use in mining camps, tents, fishing shacks, yurts and other off-the-grid structures. There are three PIONEER space heaters: The TREKKER, the EXPEDITION, and the PROSPECTOR. All three are gravity fed, and do not require electricity or any other power source.

The TREKKER is small and highly portable, and offers an output range of 4,000 BTU to 12,000 BTU.

The EXPEDTION is ITR’s most popular PIONEER model, and produces from 10,000 to 30,000 BTU.

The PROSPECTOR is the most powerful of the PIONEER heaters, and has an output range of 25,000 to 50,000 BTU.

All PIONEER heaters are CSA/UL approved, and include safety features such as automatic valve shutoff in the event of tilts or high temperatures, and outer shields that prevent accidental contact with the heater during operation. PIONEER heaters use a patented vaporizing burner technology, designed for U.S. military standards, which prevents fuel pooling and facilitates a clean flame and eliminates smoke and smell. All PIONEER heaters are designed, tested and manufactured at ITR’s Richmond, British Columbia facility.

The PIONEER line of heaters are sturdy, convenient, reliable, and incredibly easy to use.  Most of all, they have been proven safe and reliable though years of demanding use and in applications ranging from research stations in Antarctica to mining camps in the Yukon.
